How Our Mental Health
Support Works

Our longer appointment times and quieter setting provide a relaxed environment to discuss mental health concerns.

Step 1: Initial Mental
Health Assessment

Most initial assessments will start with an appointment to discuss the concerns and decide what next steps may be appropriate.

  • Visits can be arranged to allow an initial conversation with parents or guardians on their own if preferred. This can allow open communication about concerns without worrying your child or teen may overhear the conversation.

  • One-on-one conversation with the child or teen is also an important part of the initial evaluation, to ensure their perspective is heard and that they are involved in the formation of a plan.
  • Any relevant screenings will be provided. Results will be reviewed with the family and incorporated into the diagnosis and plan. If medication is recommended, decisions about which medication to choose, how to take it, and what side effects might be expected will be reviewed in depth.

Step 2: Ongoing Mental Health, Counseling & Support

After the initial assessment, we provide ongoing care, ensuring your child receives consistent mental health support through consistent mental health care and medication management.

  • Follow up visits will be tailored to the particular diagnosis and plan of your child or teen. Often some of these visits can be arranged virtually to minimize disruption to school and work schedules.
  • If medication has been prescribed, questions about side effects can be answered and dose adjustments can be made through portal or text messages between scheduled visits.
  • Want to discuss a side effect or medication concern in person, without waiting for your next scheduled appointment? Go ahead and book an earlier follow-up—no need to worry about surprise additional charges.
